Kevin Brown’s artistic style is a dynamic fusion of visual and mixed media, combining bold imagery with layered storytelling. His work is both visually captivating and deeply purposeful — each piece challenging the viewer to reflect on social realities, cultural memory, and collective transformation.
With a firm belief in the power of creativity to shift narratives and spark change, Kevin uses his art to advocate for social justice, cultural preservation, and environmental awareness. His ongoing digital art series, Freedom Summer, explores the legacy of the civil rights era and the emotional truths of the McComb movement, revealing untold stories and honoring community resilience.
In 2025, Kevin served as curator of the "Neglected Stories – McComb Tour", a powerful community history project that brought together local voices and international perspectives through a shared exploration of history with 11 visiting German participants.
Kevin has curated impactful exhibits and community projects designed to inspire dialogue, education, and action. His exhibit Perspectives From Generations Beyond the Dream earned acclaim for its student engagement and deep reflection on Dr. King’s legacy of equality, justice, and youth leadership across Southwest Mississippi.

Kevin also served as dramaturg for the Pike County Little Theater’s first majority Black-cast production of A Raisin in the Sun. He curated The Welcoming Committee, a companion gallery featuring works from eight local artists, connecting the play’s themes with contemporary visual storytelling.

Kevin Brown currently serves as the Director of the Black History Gallery in McComb, Mississippi, where he leads initiatives that preserve, celebrate, and activate the region’s rich cultural heritage.
As a lecturer and speaker with the Mississippi Humanities Council Speakers Bureau, he regularly presents on topics such as community storytelling, grassroots history, art as activism, and the power of reclaiming space through creative expression.
Kevin is also the founder of Gertrude’s Garden, a vibrant community green space in the Burglund District of McComb. Through this and other platforms, he facilitates workshops, history tours, youth engagement events, and collaborative art projects that center wellness, cultural identity, and community resilience.
